MARINE PARK MANAGEMENT

i) Tunku Abdul Rahman Park
ii) Turtle Islands Park
iii) Tun Sakaran Marine Park
iv) Proposed Tun Mustapha Marine Park
v) Proposed Sipadan Island

This unit was establised for the purpose of managing and conserve within the areas of Marine Parks which based to the Plan or Management & Conservation Program that have prepared.

Function:

  1. Coordinating and monitoring the implementation of the Plan or Management & Conservation Program of Marine Parks.
  2. Coordinating and monitoring the implementation of the Plan or Program relate to the public and Local Community within the areas of Marine Parks.
  3. Proposing countermeasure solution for issues and problem relate with Management & Conservation of Marine Parks.
  4. To ensure that the Marine Park management are parallel with national and international policy that related with Park areas, environment, and local community.
  5. To propose countermeasure solution in regards of the issues and problem which relate to local community within the areas of Marine Parks.
  6. To establish and maintain relationships on different levels within the state which relate with the environment and management of marine protected areas.
  7. Assess and provide reports on the effectiveness of the implementation Plan or Management & Conservation Program of Marine Park, and also recommending suggested improvement.
  8. Preparing the Management & Conservation Plan for Station and Substation within the islands areas of Marine Parks.
  9. Provide input in the Physical Development Plan to ensure that the implementation of Park Physical Development Plan is consistent and parallel with the objectives of the Marine Park Management and Conservation. Input is to ensure that the following matters:

    * Conservation of resources and natural features are given priority.
    * Structure and design of park infrastructure facilities are eco-friendly and compatible with the ecological development locations (ecologically compatible).
    * The suitability of the specification and design of the project.
    * The suitability of the specification and development of the site.
    * Ensure that the sewage system that is used is environmental friendly and easy to treat.
    * Suitability and specifications of the jetty and the flow movement and landing of boats and ships.
     
  10. Provide recommendations of the Land Use Plan Marine Parks.
  11. Ensure all Marine Park boundaries are maintained.
  12. Maintaining involvement of the park in international programs such as Marine Protected Area Network.
